How screwed am I?

I have '99 cavalier. This morning I was out of gas and wasn't sure I'd make it to the gas station so I was putting what was left in a gas can that was in the garage into my car. Being tired or just plain stupid I didn't take the tiny cap off the tube of the gas can and stuck it in there. Only after I pulled it out did I realize the cap was now stuck in the tank. I made it to the gas station and when I tried to put gas in it it shot out, now apparently blocked. How screwed am I here? How would I go about getting this fixed?

dude.. thats the craziest thing ive heard in a while. you are going to have to take off your gas filler tube thing.. i dont know if you can get into it once you disconnect it. but the junkyard shouldnt charge you "that much" for a new one

I called the Chevy dealership to see what I should do. The guy said to unhook the tube's hose line thing on the bottom to get it out. But it seems to be stuck up at the top where you put the nozzle in so I don't see what good that would do. I'll probably have to end up taking it in I guess.

I'm not so sure how easy it is for you to get these, seeing as my parents work in the medical feild, but some long hemostats would be perfect for that job (or some large tweezers/long needle nosed pliers)
Maybe check out Home Depot or a hardware store and see what they have, because knowing dealerships, even if it is a simple fix you will get charged an arm and a leg.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks man. Yeah I'm gonna have to try something like that after work. I shined a flashlight in there while on lunch and couldn't see anything at all. And I can stick a pen down there and the little thing opens all the way, but when I put a gas can nozzle or gas pump nozzle in it doesn't fit in all the way. So I guess it's stuck right behind it or something.

your not to bad the gas tank is in the middle of the car but take a hard objectand knock it down it wont hurt ant thing but if you wish to drop the tank it easy but you need a 3 1/2 ton big jack its really simple two 15mil bolt for the straps un hook a few thing and out it comes if it were me i just knock it out of the way

I got it out. My friend crawled under there and took the whole tube off to the gas tank after poking it down farther with a straight screwdriver. Then just knocked it out. It wasn't that big but the entrance to the gas tank would have been too narrow for it to go through. Thanks guys.
