I think I just posted this a little bit ago, but I don't see it, so I'm reposting. Sorry if it's a dup.
I have located and someone explained to me how to take off the IAC. This person said I should get carburator cleaner and spray around the 2 holes where the IAC goes into. He means the 2 openings on top that the IAC unit covers. He said there will be residue there and I should just give it a quick spray and it will dissolve. He said it is okay for this carb stuff to get in there as it will burn off.
Do you agree?
I did get a new gasket in the box with the valve from NAPA.
Seems simple enough...He said to do everything with the car off and when the new control valve is on to then start car. He said it might sputter for a minute but will be fine. A guy in Advance Auto said to spray the stuff while it's idling, but that scares me....
Please advise!

Do as your friend suggested. If you spray while the engine is running, all you will do is clean a little portion of the inside throttle body and part of the throttle plate. You can remove the air intake hose and block open the throttle(engine not running) and spray carburetor cleaner in the throttle body and wipe it clean with a rag. This will also help the idle quality of the car. Leave the throttle blocked open for a few minutes to help evaporate the carburetor cleaner and it will not take as long for it to run properly again. If you start it immediately, you will have to play with the gas pedal to keep it running.

I thought the throttle body was next to the IAC. I am spraying the holes that are UNDER it aren't I? Does stuff still come out the hose? I am not messing with the throttle body because I might screw it up. I AM NOT car smart, but I can handle 2 screws and a connector. Can you explain a little more?
The part the IAC screws onto is not the throttle body is it? I have a pic of it, but don't know how to add it to my post!

Yes that is the throttle body the IAC bolts to. If you remove the big plastic hose that goes to the throttle body, youi can clean the little metal door thing that is inside it. That is the throttle plate. Look at it and see if there is a lot of black gunk on it. If it is, clean it as described earlier. It is a simple painless repair. Just be sure it is fairly dry before you truy to start it. Also make sure the plastic hose is connected and tight before you try to start the car. Good luck.
