Tail light problem.

I have a 99 Silverado and the lense fell out on the rear passanger side. The bulbs broke and may have shorted to the chassis. I replaced the lense and the bulbs but the tail light, running light- the one that is on when the head lights are on- does not work. I thought I might have blown a fuse, but I can not find a bad fuse. If I use a meter and test the lines from the connection block under the bed to the right light (running light), I have continuity. All the left lights work. The brake and turn signal lights work on the right side.

Do you think I have a wiring problem from the connection block under the bed
back to the front of the truck or do I have a fuse problem or a wiring problem or what? I can't even figure out if the tail light (running lights) are fused seperately.

If one side works the fuse is good. It has to be a wiring or ground problem.

I just got done fixing this exact problem. I wound up replacing the wiring harness ($30) and it completely fixed the problem. This consists of the sockets that hold the bulbs and the wire that runs to the connector under the bed. It is a pretty short run and an easy fix.

Not true!

Chevy runs two circuits to the rear for the tail lights. You also have two fuses (right and left).

You said you didnt check your fuses, why not! If the bulbs were broke and shorted, the fuse is there to protect the circuit, therefore more than likely blown.

Sorry but my wiring diagram says 1 fuse for the turn signal # 16, a 15 amp for both right and left.
