I have a 1990 talon tsi that is getting fuel and turns just fine, but not getting any spark. I just got this car a couple weeks ago and am not quite familiar with it yet. Where shoud I start diagnosing the issue?
Thanks

First off check your fuses. Then I would start by checking the spark plug wires and if those look good trace them back to the coil pack. If you have a haynes/chiltons manual it will tell you how to test the coil pack to see if it's good.
After you have done that come post here with the results.
Thanks

It could be one of two problems, 1: Coil pack is bad, 2: Ecu is shot. I had this problem with my one 92 Talon ES, first replaced the coil pack, and it ran for a few days then died again. Then I replaced the ecu and it runs fine now.

To add to the list, the ignitor can fail as well. There is also a coil fuse, but I forget if they label it that plainly or not. The flow basically goes ECU Ignition Drivers>Ignitor>Coil>wires>plugs>ground.
