Hi Guys; xeroinfinity are you out there?
2003 GT1 with a 3400 engine. My problem is that when the engine is cold it starts fine but afyer driving to the store and coming out in a little while it doesn't start that great. It turns over okay but just as it starts to fire it quits. Then you have to try a couple more times before it will start. Anybody have any ideas. I don't know what I should check first.

Try checking the fuel pressure. You may have a regulator problem causing bleed down when hot. If the pressure is low when hot can take several tries for the pressure to build enough to start.

When was your last tune up, like plugs & wires ?
Also cheap or contaminated gas can also cause simular issues.
Might try some fuel system cleaner and see if that helps.
Like Seafoam or Lucus injector cleaner.
That is if your FP regulator checks out :D

I purchased the car in May with 40000 Kil on it. I have no idea if it was last tuned up. It starts like a charm when cold.

Check your TPS (throttle Position Sensor). It's near the throttle body and may have three pins. Take it out and measure resistance between two pins (between middle and one side pins). If the resistance chance smoothly when you rotate the sensor, it's fine. If it show some jump, you need replace it. My G-AM's staring problem was gone after I replace it.

welcome back jeffk388.
I highly DOUBT his 2003 TPS is bad, especialy since it has around 40k miles.
If so we hav the proper test proceedures for his model in the Tips and Maintenance (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=2148)section :D
A dirty air filter can even cause hard starts when hot.
Bad engine grounds, loose ignition system connectors, faulty emission control system.

Let's think about what the engine needs to get it started. If the spark plugs are fine, it needs right amount of air and fuel. These are controlled actively by IAC and TPS and passively by fuel filter and/or air filter. Also involded are O2 sensor and EGR valve, air flow sensor and so on. I think the part which are significantly affected by the engine room temperature is electronic parts like IAC or TPS. I will be supprised if any feul or air filter performance changes that much by the temp. That why I guess the TPS may be culprit for my 94 G-AM.

I preffer not to gue$$ my money away,
with out testing the components first.
That's all I was saying
