2001 Lesabre Rear Brake Noise

When I back up slolwy and apply the brake to stop, there is a grinding/grunching noise coming from the rear of the car. It never happens going forward, only in reverse.
It does not happen all the time, but only occasionally. I thought it might be the brakes, but dealer says brakes are operating at factory ouput.

Welcome to AF, my 2003 same thing in the AM, dampness on the pads and rotors seems to be the issue.

Thanks for the reply. That makes great sense, as it only seems to do it in the morning.

Hey, yeah! My 1997 LeSabre also has the same problem. I've replaced the wheel cylinders and brake shoes and I have the same problem you have. What's up with this? My 2002 Buick Century doesn't have this problem and it has rear brake drums.
