Tranny Trouble

I have a 91 Honda Accord and the transmission is acting weird. This morning I was driving down the highway just fine. All of the sudden the car jumped from 4th to 3rd gear and the Sports mode light came on as soon as it shifted. I pulled over, turned off the car and waited a few minutes. Light went off. Few minutes later, same thing happened. Sports light flickered off and on and then down shifted outta nowhere. You start the car up and the sports mode seems to be stuck on. When I put the car in drive, it feels like its in third gear and stuck there. I can make the car manually shift to 1st but when I try to go from 1st to 2nd, it jumps up into third and will not shift up or down. Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Anyone have an idea of what is causing this? THanks

TCU going bad, most likely.

There is a way to fix it if you can solder. I'll see if I can find the writeup on it...

I tried to do a search for more info on that such problem, but all that came up was a huge list of questions other people had allready asked. Any how, I just got in the car, started it up and the s light was blinking off and on and finally stayed on. I also noticed a clicking noise under the dasboard on the drivers side and also a clicking noise right under the shifter. The clicking noise under the shifter was the safety mechanism that keeps the car from being shifted without pushing the brake. Now, you can take the car out of gear without pushing on the brake. If you think its still the tcu going bad, I could probably replace that myself. I crawled under the dashboard and it almost seems like there is a relay clicking in and out, but maybe that is for the safety mechanism and is therefor directly linked to the TCU. Still puzzled...
