Considering an Aztek - ease of repair?

I need to ditch my minivan and get something smaller, zippier, and with better gas mileage. Also needs to be AWD & fit 2 adults & 2 kids & a baby in the back.

Does this sound like an Aztek will fit all that?

Also, I do most of my own repairs on my vehicles, how is this vehicle on ease of repair?

I rear on this forum about transmission problems and blown/cracked seals? Can anyone epand on this for me?

Thanks.

Azteks have problems.

CV wheel bearings go bad too soon, poor quality.
Head gaskets have a problem, apparently they melt with the orange antifreeze.
Electrical systems go south, you need a new computer.
Lots of plastic hoses underneath where there should be metal.

I just helped my friend replace his head gaskets, what a nightmare that was.

I love my 2002 Aztek, but I had to rebuild the engine last year. It is fairly zippy, but gets about the same mpg as my 2000 Montana.
