ECU swap

Hey everyone its been a long time since I've been on, School work and such (Woot UMR), But I was wondering with the later iterations of the same engine sometimes gas mileage and power goes up. Not much I know but is it because of the ECU or what?

So I have a 93 Si sol and was wondering if I could swap in a different ECU. Mostly for things like transmition shift improvement and somewhat better fuel maps. My tranny doesnt like to shift into 3rd or neutral unless im going over 30 MPH, for when Im coasting and such.

I know its kind of a wierd idea but since Im in college I need all the gas mileage I can get, right now Im getting about 32-35 but have gotten peeks around 42 while crusing at 65-70MPH that was right after a new timing belt and oil and air filter change.

Nah, stick with your P28. It's a good ECU and it also supports VTEC, unlike other ECU's. You're fine as is.

OK that being said is there any way I can get the transmition to work better? as in letting me coast and not C-braking? Is there anything I can do to lean out the fuel to improve gas mileage? besides be gentle on the throttle Im not looking for anything huge just 1-5 MPG better. And is there anyway to explain the 42 MPG stint I had?

Fresh and full oil, especially synthetic will improve gas mileage. So will a clean air and fuel filter. Best thing for good mileage is keeping the car maintained and not carrying around extra dead weight.
