possible valve adjustment issue...

I am working on a '91 eclipse with a 300+hp 2.0L 1st gen head and 2nd gen block, evo3 16g turbo, and FWD. We're are hearing the distinsitve "valve noise" but six times louder. I'm figuring it needs a valve adjustments with one needing major adjustment. If it needs an adjustment, is it shims or adjustment screws on the rockers? Sticky or loose valves? It could be something else or more. Any info would be great.
