A bit of help on a 1993 LX

Alright guys, I'm brand new to the site and I'm not sure the pecking order but I desperately need a bit of help on the ignition parts of my vehicle. Now i just recently got this vehicle as a gift from a friend but it seems that a very important part to the whole ignition process is missing. Not the Ignition switch itself but the part the runs along the steering column after the switch.

The area looks like it has a number of contacts that plug into the column Itself and I have yet to find a website that can tell me the name of this
awkward shaped piece. I've gotten these names so far with no luck on finding the actual piece:

Ignition Actuator
* Starter switch
* Coil

* = Same word repeated

Also as a generic Search, I have looked up Ignition Parts and have yet to find something.

Sincerely,

Josh G.

Hi Josh, and welcome to the forum. You would be referring to one of the parts occupying the couple of inches of space between the lock cylinder on the left and the switch body on the right, eh? This diagram is from the Ford manual for the '97 Thunderbird but unfortunately they don't identify that part. It isn't referred to in the text either but I can post the accompanying text if you want to read it anyway - it's the removal and installation instructions for the switch.

Welcome to the forum. If that is indeed the part you are looking for, it is called the Steering Actuator Housing. Selectron- If you go to page 11-04-3 of the manual you will find the disassembled view of the steering column. The picture you showed is on page 11-04-20 and 11-05-11, if you have the same service manual that I have.

Ah, I think I see what you mean, thanks. I thought we were talking about a lever sitting on top of that housing but it's the actual housing itself eh. In that case then, these are the relevant diagrams. I don't have a manual for the '93, but the '95 and '97 diagrams are both the same - these are from the '97.
