Anyway to program the keyless entry remotes?

Hi guys, I just bought a used T/A 98. It has 45k miles on it and it seems to run ok. It just has some minimal stuff to get fix which i'm working on them. One thing is bothering me. The seller only gave me one set of keys and one keyless entry remote. Is there a way to reset the keyless module or program it to learn the remote that i have only. I'm just a little concerned that someone tries to steal something from it or steal it. Also how hard is to change the door lock key cylinders and the start switch key cylinder?
Or you guys have any other sugestions? Thanks in advance.

I only have one keyfob for my car too, it's just the only one that was made for the car. Unless someone has another remote programmed to your car, and a set of keys with the same VATS chip, you have nothing to worry about. Don't replace an entire set of perfectly good locks for no reason. That's just being paranoid lol.

Changing the ignition lock is kind of a pain in the behind. You have to take the steering wheel off.

I don't know anything about the keyless entry, sorry.

So your telling me that these keys have a chip on them? The kinda of chip that has to match to make the car start? Also when you buy a T/A it only comes with one remote then?

Yes. On the key there should be a little black circle with a metal lead on either end. That is a resistor and the resistance has to be a certain value for the car to start.

So if you replace the ignition lock, the key that comes with the lock will not start the car. You need to go to the dealership and have them cut a key to match the hills and valleys of the key that came with the lock, and to have the resistance chip on it that matches the car. A resistance chip key is about $30.

Basically you'd be spending hundreds(at the dealer)for nothing. Wait until you need the money to fix something that's really broken.

SG is 100% correct, an ignition lock from Chevrolet is $220

yeah thats alot to go through! u want my advise...get an after market alarm like i did, u will get new remotes and if anyone else has a stock remote and trys to open the car when they unlock it the alarm will g off when they open the door lol. see my stock remote will still unlock the doors but because i now have a viper alarm system, it doesnt disarm the after market alarm. so they may unlock the doors but the system will still go off as soon as they touch the car, and ill get paged, so i can go outdise and do like that guy did in that news article a few years back...stomp the hell outta the damn fool who tried to steel my shit!!! without the killing him part....but i still dont blame that dude for killing the theif

Thanks alot guys for all your input. I'll install the alarm system on it and for now i'll just reprogram the stock remote. My other vehicle was a Grand Marquis 94 and it didn't had any of this technology so i'm kinda of new to all this. Thanks again
