A/C Not cold on 2001 Cougar

I'm wonding if there is a way to recharge the a/c system on my 2001 Mercury Cougar V6 and how I would go about doing it? I've done so on a late model Honda but I'm not proficent with my newer Cougar. What type of a/c recharger would you recommend?
