removing the side view mirror glass only

The mirrors for the side views seem to be held in by clips. Can I pull the glass assembly out of the clip? I'm trying to replace the back of the housing and need to remove the glass in order to get at the screws that hold the back housing to the side view mirror frame.

The glass can simply be pried off. Just be careful not to break it. I think I have used a butter knife to do it before. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
