Rear tires rubbing...

Anyone with 17" wheels on a lowered G that has problems with rubbing in the fenders? I hear rubbing when people are in the back seats when I go over dips in the road but I can't figure out exactly what the tire is rubbing on.

Also I know this sounds impossible but the tires in the rear have made deep scratches in the paint of my KYBs (on the outside of the spring seat). I know the wheel and the suspension move together but how the hell is this happening??

I dont know how the tire could be rubbing on your strut..

As for rubbing on the rear fender area... check on the very corner where your bumper meets the fender (theres a screw w/ a mounting flap which sticks out a bit) mine rubbed a little there until i trimmed it down (actually it made a barking noise lol)

The rubbing you hear is either likely the fender lip or the inner fender liner. If it's the lip, you can roll it or have it rolled. Check the SE-R mailing list archives for information on rolling fender lips.

If it's the inner fender liner, you're SOL. I have that problem with my Sentra SE-R. I have none with my G20 with 17x7.5, 45mm offset wheels with 205/40-17 tires.

As for scraping the struts.....

Things move around. Tires are flexible and even metal parts can flex when loads are placed upon them.

Mine is 17x7.0 with 42 offset and 205/40 tires. No rub.... I think offset is very important for G20 to go 17in.

I will be putting 215/40 on the car tomorrow... I will see if it will rub...

Is the offset the camber/caster measurements?

If it is, I have no clue what the offset is. All I know is when I got an alignment, I told the shop that the car is lowered and they will probably have a hard time getting the measurements to stock specs. After the alignment, they said that they got it as close to stock as possible.

Also, do you think the spring seat on the KYB AGX shocks are slightly lower or thicker??

Offset referred to above means the position of the mounting face of the wheel (the part that contacts the hub) relative to the vertical centre line of the wheel i.e. a change in offset will move wheels into or out of the wheel wells.:)

I don't think it's plastic in the rear.
