HELP!! Radio Error Code "PHONE" on 98 Lincoln Continental

Hello Folks

I seem to be having difficulty with the factory radio in my newly acquired 98 Lincoln Continental.

It keeps displaying an error code/message of "PHONE" on the radio display and locking-out the unit (not able to utilize any other functions on it)

So far the only way to reset the unit has been by disconnecting/re-connecting the battery.

I tried searching the owner's manual for information/assistance without any luck.

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1998 & 1996, Conti & Town Car, are different animals in many ways, but I'll give you some tools to work with.
The factory service manual has in depth diagnostics routines as you can see here (excerpts from the 1996 TC manual, pdf format) (http://www26.brinkster.com/dchartney/OtherPages/1996LincolnMobilePhone.htm).
