Peak power is a worthless spec. What's the RMS power?
All the cap does essentially is hold power until you need it (i.e., keep your headlights from dimming).

Kicker is the way to go for inexpensive SPL, if you're into that.

L5's are 1200watts Max and 600watts RMS per sub.

Good quality sub for the money and will defenitely deliver base, especially in an SUV. Depending on the box being ported or not will determine how loud or how clean it will hit. For cleaner and tighter bass, go with an enclosed box. For louder yet not as clean and tight punching bass go with a ported box.

Subs in ported boxes require less power from the amp to produce bass. Either way you will be fine. I would recomend using a amp that can produce close to or greater amount of RMS than the sub... never know... you might want to upgrade the sub later. Dont get an amp that will not at least push as much as the sub because for one... your bass will not be as good and two... the whole upgrade thing. Bass is addicting... very much like tattoo's. The more you have, the more you want after a while.

4ohm is O.K.
2ohm is good
1ohm is better

Good Luck.

a properly ported box can be just as clean as sealed, just have to be careful not to play it below the port tuning freq.

Can get close... but too many factors are involved to make a ported box sound as clean as a sealed box.

there are advantages to get a ported box:

1) requires less power to move the sub(s)

2) produces higher SPL.

But if you are already pushing anything at 750W of RMS @ 3 OHMS or stronger (lower OHM + Higher Watts) then SPL is not really an issue... clean, crisp sound quality is. Especially in an SUV.
