6th Cylinder Plug... has won

Ok, on our 3800 SII '99 grand prix, I've been working on the spark plugs. I've gotten cylinders 1-5 plugged, but the 6th one seems to be in there in such a way that it's impossible to get out. Half the area that the ratchet attatches to (I have no idea what it's called) is buried into the side of the engine, the passenger side of it that is.

Is there ANY way to get it out? As a DIYer, I'd rather not have to take it to a mechanic and have my wallet lightened immensely. However, it needs to be replaced badly, judging by the condition of the other plugs.

you need either a wobble extension or u-joint for your ratchet so you can clear the oxygen sensor to get on that plug. There is nothing in the way down in the cylinder head, unless dirt and debris have gotten in there and are blocking access to the plug.

I got mine out with no problems. regular spark plug socket and extensions and a ratchet. I think I used a 1" and 3" extension.

Although you can work around it you can remove the bracket attached to the exhaust manifold that holds the 02 sensor wiring harness and remove the 02 sensor. That opens up the area to remove #6 and will prevent any damage to the 02 sensor. Plus protect your hands from getting cut or screwed up.
