1990 CUSTOM CRUISER Turn Signal Problem

Hello All:
1990 Olds Custom Cruiser station wagon

Left turn signals will not blink yet the lights come on when the turn signal lever is depressed; the green left arrow on the instrument panel does light up and stays on when the lever is depressed. No clicking is heard.

Right signals do blink, and you hear the clicking; the green arrow on the dash DOES flash.

Put on the hazard lights as a check and all lights flash, even the ones that won't flash when I depress the turn signal lever (those on the left); both left and right arrows ont he instrument panel also flash.

Checked bulbs and all are fine.

This just started happening today...worked one minute, and not the next.

Any suggestions? Could it be the flasher? Are there two, oce for each side?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Ryan.

Just need a new bulb either in the back or the front. The bulb has two filaments. The one for the blinking is burned out, and the bulb would not blink anymore.

Thanks for your help. I rechecked all the bulbs, and they all seemed fine, but I was driving to the store to buy bulbs to replace all of them anyway.

**Now the turn signal on the left IS working, but it is flashing about twice the rate of normal. Any ideas with this??!!

Check the model id of the bulbs. The id should be stamped on the metal base of the old bulbs. With a different model of the bulb, the filament has a different resistance eventhough the bulb looks the same, the different resistance will make the bulb blink at a different rate.

ive had experiance with this. Twice, Both times turned out to be the Turn Signal Switch inside the steering wheel, DO you ever see a light stream of smoke coming up from the sterring collumn, Did you try holding the leaver at different positions, like holding it down, or pulling it toward you? you can try and pull off the steering wheel, and take a quick gander, see if anything is messed up with those 6 contact points, any hair or debris in there. or maybe they just completely wore out, I had to replace my turn signal switches both times, on my cutty, and my brothers lumina. All Works Fine Now!
