Steering pops

Front end pops.....when turning, parking, etc.
also the xmission thumps into 2nd gear.

is it all wheel drive???

2 wheel drive.

Check the upper and lower ball joints. Very common problem if the vehicle does not have the chassis properly lubricated every 3,000 to 4,000 miles.
