1999 lx with automatic transmission. 109,000 miles. air-conditioner. yesterday when imoved air-conditioner the blower didn,t commence . i put the switch back up into off position. the i put it to air-conditioner and it worked. today it won,t work. i can hear the air comprressor engage. but no air bolwing trhu any vents. i went to auto zone for the relay as described in the owners book. i cnan,t find it under the hood. question = 1)where is the relay under the hood? 2) if the blower motor needs to be changed how much time does it take ? thanks for any help. Jim.

The blower is pretty quick and easy to replace. Be sure to rule out a bad switch before you go that far.

You'll find a wiring diagram for the '99 blower motor here (http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl225i.htm), and the description of the circuit operation on this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=724200) should enable you to locate the fault. If you don't have a multimeter then a 12V test lamp would be just as effective.

now it,s working perfectly?? the blower motor is working perfect now. i ain,t gonna push my luck and jerk the swithes around as usual. i noticed a recent poster inquiring about a similiar problem. my car spent alot of time upstate new york and i suspect maybe has some corrosion on a contact. BTW = a/z ,etc. around here want about $58. for the motor .the switch at a ford dealer is about $10.

Wire where it clips onto the motor has come loose. Had any really long legged people in your car lately. I had a big passenger in mine and he knocked the wire loose. Sometimes it would work and others not.
