Turning Noise

I own a 1998 Chevy Malibu 4-Cyl and i had this noise like 2 months after i bought it from the dealer. Everytime i turn to the right i would hear like a hitting noise :banghead: of like the dust cover plate hitting against something, and sometimes when i hit a pothole i would hear it, but like when i turn slowly and take wide turns i don't hear it. I have held the break while turning to see and i could still hear the noise. If anyone could help me that would be great.

It might be the CV-joint

I broke a spring on one of my struts, in the front, and it made some noises like you describe. If this is the case with your car, it may be hard to see unless the car is up on a lift or maybe a jack. Be real careful, coils make me nervous! At any rate inspect them, I have heard of them going through tires. Not good. Good luck.

I had one broken front coil spring on my 99 Malibu too. How did I make sure that's what it ws? I had my sweetie turn the steering wheel both directions all the way while I looked in the wheel wells. No, I didn't stick my head in to look; I sat well back.

Maybe clunking like an upper strut mount. ("boing!!!")

I'm actually looking into putting new struts in my 2000, there are all sorts of noises coming from them.

my 04 always had that from day one. 60 days after I bought it brand new the computer showed POWER STEERING and the steering shaft was broken, they changed and after that the cluck never stopped. I went through another 2 steering shafts and nothing, the noise is still there and the only way it stops is when they lub it, but it is only paliative since it comes back few weeks later.
According to Diamond Chevrolet it is a design flaw on the new malibus but looks like it's been running on the breed
