1993 XLE camry problems

I bought a 1993 Toyta camry XLE about 6 months ago, its a great car, but I am having a couple of... small problems with it. My 1st problem about my power locks. When I 1st got the car, they where a little slugish. Well now, the only way I can get in my car is if I go on the pasanger side of my car and unlock it. It wont work on my driver side. I can lock my doors on my driver side, but I cannot unlock them on that side. Any reason why this would be doing this?

My 2nd problem is my trunk. A couple of months ago, I turned my key in my trunk the wrong way, not forceful, and the whole lock just turn. Now I cant get in my trunk. I can pop the seat down, and get into it like that. I have crawled back there and look everywhere. Also the leaver to pop my trunk doesnt work.

Any idea why this would be doing this?

You probably need to replace the lock or solenoid on the driver side to fix your first issue. If you can't get into the driver side manually with the key, then it is likely the lock cylinder itself is siezing and needs replacement.

Your second issue with your trunk lock and the trunk open lever not working are likely related and due to the lock cylinder being loose and rotating on its own, preventing you from opening it. The lever cable is probably broken near the lock or has come loose as well. You will need to crawl back in there thru the seats and use a screwdriver to release the lock catch manually. Once you open it, inspect the lock from behind, removing the plastic panel if necessary. It may be that the lock cylinder was previously replaced for some reason but never re-installed properly.

that driver's side elec. door lock is big bucks at a toyota dealer; like about $300!
Head for the boneyard.
I bought one at the local BY, and an entrepreneur-type guy who was hangin' out at the place pulled one and installed it in mine for $75 bucks.
I'd recommend having a pro do it. You have to rem. the glass.

FIRST try to spray some WD40 into the lock maby that will help it.
