as some of you may remember I was trying to get the factory to do another recall for my transfer case. I had no luck, so I when ahead and bought one. So there I am going to go and pick up the used t-case when I hear a pop! felt a loss of power and tons and tons of smoke came out of my exhaust muffler.:banghead: as I went on I could not boost as high as normal so I am thinking that the turbo blew and went to crap.
has anyone blown a turbo before if so dose it go pop then smoke and lack of boost? any help from you guys would be great.

Did you check all the IC piping? My guess is you popped a hose off.

Probably just a rotted coupler blew or something simple. Turbos require some pretty serious tight seals in order for boost to function and produce the proper power , with a boost leak you'll be left powerless. As far as tons of smoke , could be because the A/F mixture and atomization was completely jack when such happened now burning excess everything.

except I never have heard a pop when my IC pipe has come off especially not the stock rubber hoses. now that I think about it when I had my talon pretty much stock under boost once the hard plastic part of the uicp which is directly below the fuse box and behind the air filter cracked on me. It would allow me to boost a bit but would leak air after I hit like 10psi or so. That was the last straw before I went to a FMIC.

everything looks good and connected on all the piping. I just have the stock side mount no hard pipe. now I am a noob when it comes to turbos. I know how they work but not really anything about them. this is my first turbo talon.
anyway it dose not look like a connection anywhere to me. I'm not sure what to do.
thanks

did you check the hard plastic pipe under your fuse box. Take off the fuse box and take out the air box and examine that plastic portion (it is a stock part so you will have its just most people don't know they do cause its kinda hidden)
Thats where mine cracked and it caused symptoms similar to yours.

[QUOTE=steviek]did you check the hard plastic pipe under your fuse box.
I just went out and pulled it off the fuse box and everything seemed to be fine with it. it did not seem to have any cracks or anything like that.
