Distributor Install

Can anyone give me a quick overview on what I need to do to insure the timing is correct when installing a new distributor? The 626 Chilton book wasn't very clear about it... thanks

need to take #1 plug out and bring #1 cylinder top dead center on compression stroke. put the rotor on #1 plug wire on distributor cap and push it back in place and that should time it correctly.
