L67 throttle body modification

I am wondering if the center divider can be removed when boring an L67 GTP throttle body. Can it be completely removed so that the MAF element/wire can be seen when the MAF is installed. Or, does some of the divider need to be left for proper reading of the MAF sensor? Thanks
