Need electrical help

2003 Taurus SEL sedan.
While driving without hitting a bump, a click comes from under the dash and the idiot lights come on, the gas guage goes to empty, the fan turns off and the speedometer flutters. After a few minutes it all goes back to normal. I had it at the dealership who spent two hours on it and couldn't find a problem. They errased some computer codes but this didn't help. Any suggestions would be great.

I'm guessing that the clicking of the relays is a result of either a power loss or a grounding loss. Since grounding problems are far more prevalent, I'd start by cleaning all the ground wires. Batt neg to body, batt neg to engine, engine to firewall, etc. Once those are cleaned, if you're still having problems, then you can turn your attention to power feeds.

Thanks for the info, I will try what you suggested and get back to you. The tech also thought it was a ground issue, but wasn't able to find anything. Hopefully I will have more success

Do you hear a click just prior to everything going back to normal as well? Does the car continue to run just fine when all this happens, no indication (engine-wise) of a problem? When you say the fan turns off, are you referring to the blower fan for the HVAC vents?

I don't notice a click before everything comes on. The engine runs fine and the fan is for the heater/ac.

The circuit protected by fuse F2.16 in the Central Junction Box provides power to the Remote Climate Control (which enables the blower motor relay), the Integrated Control Panel (which includes the HVAC controls) and the Instrument Cluster.

I'd suggest you inspect the 15A fuse F2.16 and make sure the contacts are clean, tight, and the fuse if well-seated. You may also try wiggling the fuse to see if it duplicates your symptoms.
