I need some advice, I have found the 6 prong plug under the hood and inserted a jumper wire in the black (ground) and the blue/yellow wire and I recieve no codes on the check engine light. The light stays on all the time. I have read on here that that is the two points that you should jumper the get the codes. I even looked for the switch under the front speakers that a other post said needed to be fliped and it is not there! Does anyone have any other information on why the codes won't come up? Engine run's very well other than it sometimes want's to quit when you stop. I do have a small exhaust leak where it goes in the the converter. I just changed plugs, plug wires, dist. cap and rotot button. All the plugs had a good gray color to them, don't appear to be running rich and the gas mileage isn't all that good. Also changed the pcv valve and fuel filter and air filter. Any advice sure would be appreicated.

96 will be OBD2 system. Requires a scan tool that you can buy for less than $50.00 or auto zone will do a free scan and give you the code. Ed

Ed, thanks for the information, maybe now I will not go crazy trying to get the codes. I do have another question, I have been looking at the obd2 code scaners over the internet, I i remember right they showed a 16 pin conector that they hook into. I looked under my dash for it and could only find a 10 pin connector and another that is 2 pin. could you please provide my with any other information so that I can make sure to purchase the correct scan tool. I really appreciate you helping me with all the information you have provided me. I is so helpfull!!
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
