Squeaking noise from front right wheel

For the past week the front right wheel has a very loud squeaking sound coming from it. If I ride my brake it goes away, then when I depress the brake it starts again. The noise is fairly loud and is squeaky sounding. Any suggestions or diagnosis? It is sunday so my mechanic can't look at it today so I thought I'd ask you guys. Thanks

Sounds like you need new front brake pads. The pads have a "squeaker" on them to give you advance warning before your pads wear all the way down to the metal and ruin your brake rotors. Usually you get a decent amount of squeaking time before the pad wears to the point of metal-to-metal, so you are probable okay with only a week. I assume you don't do any of this kind of work yourself -- because if you learn how and have the proper tools (especially a floor jack and stands to lift and hold the car safely), you could slap in a new set a pads in no time at a cost of anywhere from $30 to $50 depending on the quality of pads you want. I just came in from doing mine and it took about 45 minutes from start to finish. But mechanics have to make a living too.

Best plan is to pull the wheel and have a look and see what it is.
How many sundays or moons has it been squeaking? :grinyes:
Or when did it start it?
Why wait untill you mechanic is having a day off to want to fix it?

I have saw hub caps squeak to.
If it has a hub Pull hub cap first and try it.
Cheap or glazed pads will squeak to.
And riding the brakes and cowboy stops will glaze up pads.
