i was coming home from my buddy's house and I saw a yellow 350z comin from the other direction. surprisingly i've never gotten a race in with a 3fiddy, and I had nothing better to do, so I pulled a quick u-turn to see if i couldn't get a run in.
i got up behind him at a light, and surprisingly with it being like 1am in this usually dead town there was a little bit of traffic. he had a jeep in front of him, and there were a couple SUV's in the left lane. we cruised for half a mile or so before the gaps opened up and I could pull up beside him. when i finally got up next to him it was right before a curve with some rail-road tracks on it, so we both slowed down going over it. a car pulled in front of him in the right lane (i was in the left), so he got behind me and was probly 2 ft from my rear bumper. i was waiting for him to flick the right directional and go WOT, which he did quickly. i waited until he pulled right up beside me to punch it (from ~40, not one of my stronger spots). as i did, he got about 3/4 of a car more on me since he had the jump and xtra speed from behind. i started reeeling him back in at round 50 and passed him at about 60. there was a slight right curve coming up (an f-body's worst nightmare lol), and he had the inside lane with less ground to cover. I just stayed on it tho up till about 95, and finished with about 2 cars on him.
the next couple intersections we went through didnt really have long enough straight-aways to get on it, so we both just revved it a little. when the guy came back up along side me i looked in the car an it looked like one of the gotti boys haha. some italian-looking kid with greased up spiked hair. i just coasted at 50 in the 45, and he pulled in front of me and got in the left lane of the next intersection, and then turned into a mcdonald's. i took the left turn up ahead, and saw him driving through the mcdonald's parking lot and then come back out on the road that I turned onto (not sure why he turned in, maybe he wanted to talk or something but he never motioned to me). i coasted at about 30 in the 45 waiting for him to come back out. when he did there was about 3/4 of a mile straight-away up hill, and we both nailed it. i pulled away a lot harder than before since we went at it at about the same time. i brought it up to about 80 before i shut it down, and had a solid 4-5 lengths on him. overall i could see the Z being a good track car, but F/I seems needed to make it good in the straight line.
i'm not sure if it was the 35th anniversary edition or not. i looked it up and yellow was a 2005-only color, and the anniversary car was yellow too. i'm really not sure what the difference is between them appearance-wise though.

Nah..an LS1 should destroy a 350Z from a roll or from a dig.
FYI, those wheels are available on the 2006-2007 models too.
