Dunno if this is a problem or not...so thats why i put in here...kay so my car is an auto, when driving at WOT it goes past redline before it shifts...no biggie..but then when it does shift it slams in so hard it feels like the axels are gunna break..best of all when I got the car one of the axels were broken..is it normal to shift like that?

ok, does the shift actually shift fast or is there a lag before it shifts?
if theres a lag, no its not supposed to do that.. i think if it shifts fast it MAY have a shift kit..

it shifts very fast... I know on the motor every wire is marked to where it has to go..so we are figuring that somebody had it apart..

Its not supposed to go past redline... Either somebody bypassed something or your tranny fluid is low or the tranny filter needs changed... Maybe it has a shift kit in it? :dunno:

mm.. but you know how those tachs have redlines written a bit before it actually redlines?
like, on the camaro youre supposed to shift as it goes INTO the red, not past..
did you mean it goes totally past the red or somewhat into the red?

there's really no telling with this situation. there are a lot of things the previous owner might have or might not have done when installing the shift kit. some shift kits require you to drill out certain holes in the shift plate before installation (this may not have been done, or done incorrectly). Solution: (unless you can determine the manufacturer of the installed shift kit), buy a new one and install it correctly.
another thing, off the top of my head, in the tailshaft of the trans there is a round cover (the one without a wire plug coming out of it). the govenor is in there. the previous owner may have removed the springs from it, or replaced with stiffer springs (the tranny might have shifted to early for him/her). this would increase the shift points. call the people at www.transmissionhead.com to get the right springs. this is a pretty easy job, and the springs are cheap.
