driver side window just disappeared...

... well at least that is what i was told from my g/f. anyway, the window is inside the door, but it appears the cable may have broken. I'm guessing the cable attaches to the plastic piece that the window slides on... the guide. the end of the cable has a gold piece and it appears the cable is cut. does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this cable? do i need a whole new motor, because that still works? also it seems like the window uses a pully type system, but i dont understand how this cable was hooked up to start. its on a 2001 kia sportage.

after futher inspection, it looks like the wire from the motor that attaches to the regulator is what broke. but not only that the wire seems all bound up by the motor... a loop of the wire is sticking out from the motor.

The cable for the window regulator broke. The regulator comes with the motor as an assembly.
