Fuel Pump Necessity????

If I am going to run a Garett T25 turbo, or something small like that; and I do not plan to reach WOT very often, do I still need a fuel pump. I do not want to lose my descent gas mileage, will an aftermarket fuel pump affect my gas mileage. What about fuel rails?

A fuel pump doesnt effect gas milage, it just allows the fuel to be there, so that the motor isnt starved.

that's not always going to be true - if the fuel pump doesn't provide enough fuel, combustion could suffer, resulting in poor gas mileage. Also, the fuel pump takes power to run, so a ridiculously oversized pump would eat up your engine output (and cost you mpg).

you need the pump. once you enter boost, you will need to feed the motor more fuel than the stock system is capable of providing.

and no posting back with, "but, if, or, in my case"... the fact is you need to upgrade the fuel pump or the motor will cut out when you boost higher than 3 psi.

Please, man. You'll be addicted to boost as soon as you hit it and you'll want more. Everyone does. If you don't want to, why get one?

Anyway, fuel pumps are good if you're going to upgrade the injectors. Don't forget about a management unit.

Well since it is here, I would say don't bother with the T25. I have hear that they run out of boost VERY quick. They might spool fast but you are going to loose top end. I would say at least get a T28, but I am VERY partial to the T03.

Do you have nothing better to do than piss people off? This forum is here so that anyone who wants to reply to a post can do so. At least I try to give a little of my experience or ask a valid question with each post (excpet one time I did post saying "I'm a post whore....."). So what's the deal? You can't stand reading old posts? That's what they're here for. If you don't like it, take your moderator ass around the forum and lock each thread over 2 weeks old. I'm sick of seeing your sorry ass.
