Bonny 89 radio removal problem

What's the trick to remove the radio? It looks so easy in the Haynes book but the installation in my car looks different. Maybe the radio is changed sometime in the past. I’ve owned the car since 2003. There is a bracket secured by 2 screws above the unit. Removing these screws makes nothing happens. Bracket stays in place and so does the radio. I suspect there is something else holding the unit in place. Pics on the whole thing at http://www.wheelstream.se/pontiac/radio.htm . Grateful for suggestions.
