02 Chevy Cavalier won't start

I've had this Chevy for about 6 months. Lately the engine has been running a bit rough, idyling heavy. In the past few days it has been difficult to start the car. I would turn the key but the engine would just click- my lights/radio all came on. If I sat a minute and then turned the key again the car would start.
This morning when I went to leave for work the same thing happened. Only this time the car won't start at all. I'm hoping it is the battery and all I need to do is replace it, but is there a possibility it's something else? I live in Arizona so batteries, and other car parts, frequently die from heat exhaustion. :)

take it to autozone or advance auto or a parts store that offers free battery testing. The GM batteries life average is about 5-6 years before they crap out on ya. So you've got a good chance of that being the culprit.

Thanks for the advice. My bf is on the way and he's going to try and jump it with his truck. If that works then I know what the problem is. It's just amazing because my other car's battery died two weeks ago as well. Damn this blasted heat!

check your battery connections too, bad connections can give the same symptoms of a bad battery
