hi i am new to the forum my last thread did not go that well
but what i need help on is a b16a swap
i have a 90 crx hf
i am looking for the most cheapest way of doing this swap if there is.
Now should i get a b16a from 91 or the 93 i heard the 93 b16a had 10 more horsepower?
the transmission it would be a S1 or Y1 right? but what cars came with these trans? and can i find these in a junkyard or do i have to ship them from japan or something like that?
other than the engine/trans/engine mounts what else do i have to get to make this work ?
thanks for your help

As far as the engine goes, you'll want to use a 88-91 engine since the CRX ECU still uses ODB0 and anything 92 or later uses ODB1 or ODB2 making a swap much more difficult as far as wiring is concerned... the 88-91 engine is also cheaper... example at www.nippon-motors.com
You will also need a bolt in mount kit, such as one from www.hasport.com or www.hcpengineering.com which are between $450 and $550... You will also need a new shift linkage... either a shortend integra shift linkage or HCP Engineering sells an adjustable linkage.
Transmission will have to be a B-series cable transmission (as opposed to hydrolic)... I think they are the S1, J1 and Y1.... the S1 and J1 are from integra XSi's (I think), and the Y1 is from the SiR.... I'm not sure on the differences, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the Y1 transmissions came with factory LSD.
did I leave out anything, guys?

what year does the shift linkage have to come out of from the integra?\
what years are those integra's xsi i have to get the trans from and the years from the sir's?
does it matter if it has LSD in the Y1 trans ?
sorry if it's a stupid question i work mostly on chevy's

yeah use the b16a1 not the a2's or a3's because they are obd1 or 2 like killa said. as far as the mount kits, hasports are the name brand ones, but they sell cheap noname ones on ebay if your looking for the cheapest price. you need the 90-93 integra axles, with the intermediate shaft.
www.jdmhondaparts.com i think these are cheaper engines.
an lsd tranny would be more expensive. cant you also use the ys1 tranny too

You don't have to run a Y1 tranny but i would reccomend it. Even though the B-series don't have too much torque steer due to the axels being the same lenght you will want the LSD if you want to build the motor. Any mount kit for any B-series motor will work. Get a Integra wire harness and than wire it for vtec. Not that hard of a thing to do. To learn to wire vtec you'll have to read some of the past threads about b/c if i tell you, you won't learn too much but to solder wires, you need to learn more about vtec before you go playing with it. Start with the basics of what it is if you don't know and learn how it's activated and from there you'll fully understand the wiring concept.Pretty easy.

I believe the linkage is from a 90-93 integra... but as I said, it's not an exact fit... I believe it has to be shortend a few inches.
The SiR transmissions are from 88-91 Civics and CRXs and the S1 and J1 are from 90-93 integras... but yeah, like the man said, I'd try to get my hands on a Y1 with factory LSD, cause the Y1 also has the best gearing, I believe.
69 Z28 with a 427 in it is the only chevy I like
By the way, for more swap information, www.hasport.com has A LOT of useful info on it about swapping engines that's well worth reading... especially about wiring and the fitting of axles.

so i can find a crashed integra GSR 92-93 in a junkyard and use the YS1 from it ? and the shift linkage and axle
so all the stuff i need is
engine b16a junkyard
shift linkage from integra 90-93 junkyard
axle and shaft integra 90-93 junkyard
wire harness form integra or buy new one how much for new one?
trans form a integra GSR 92-93 from junckyard and try to get LSD, what is LSD?
and motor mount from hasport
does this all work?

Good luck finding a 92-93 Integra GS-R in a junk yard. They are pretty rare cars. I would say that they are by far more rare than the Integra Type R. LSD stands for Limited Slip Differential. On a NON-LSD trans, your front right (passenger) tire only spins....causing you not to be able to launch as high because of the excessive wheel spin. With an LSD equipped trans, once one wheel, slips, the other kicks in....so you have both front wheels pulling you. You can launch higher w/ less wheel spin. Also, you will not be able to find a first gen B16A motor in a junkyard because it is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) only motor...it never existed here.

1150.00 is this a good price for a b16a engine?not used
and where could i find a Y1/YS1 if not in a junkyard ?

you can make your stock shift linkage work. you just need to lengthen it a couple inches and reweld it. I did that on my swap and it works great
for your harness, use your stock HF harness, and add the 4 wires and ground for vtec. it will plug right up the the b16

is it easier to do a b18 swap rather than a b16a swap like finding parts and such from junkyards?
i thought i could find the trans and engine in junkyards and buy whatever else i need for the the swap i think i need to start saving more money
