hi, we took off a transmission off a 92 ram automotic

anyhow we tryed to mount the tranny to the ram while the torque converter was still on the engine and we failed.

so we took the torque converter off and i took a peek inside and the gears dont seem to be locked in there tight. they move around a bit. i see a washer too that i thought was supposed to be tight against the front hole! Its loose and sliding out of the way and blocking the pump axle from entering?

is this normal?

when i turn the torque converter while its off the engine inside the transmission with no fluid in the tranny. will it spin the driveshaft? or will it just spin and not turn because of no hydralic fluid? its not spinning the driveshaft axle right now probably because its empty.

Please post because i dont want to waist my friends time trying to mount something that is broken

No it won't spin the drive shaft. There are no washers in the pump just two gears. You should have the pump pulled out and looked at if the TC was not installed correctly.

i havent installed this yet. so i dont know if its good yet? the pump is fine trust me. its just the torque converter im worried about. When I spin the torque converter I hear this one washer making noise. I dont like it. Maybe when i fill this up with fluid it wont be noisy!

If the thrust washer, is partially blocking the hubs inside the torque converter. Then the converter is junk.
