I have a 91 daytona with the 3.0 v6 and the lifters are starting to knock I got a few refrenceses and heard that it was comon for the dodge 3.0s to have a lifter issues and that it was ignorable over time. I was thinking of building a new motor for it could I interchange it for a caravan motor or will I have to find another 3.0 daytona??

LOL. Strange... I also have a 91' dodge daytona, 3.0 v6 :P and I just had a buddy look at my car and tell me the knocking is coming from the lifters and it's a simple fix. Takin' the lid off the engine tomorrow to take a look. I'll post how it goes. :)

So I had someone take a look at my engine, and I'm only becoming more and more frusturated...

At first, I was told that it's probably a rocker arm, broken or something. After taking the lid off the engine there, the knocking/ticking sound seems more as if it is coming from right under the intake manifold. What could this be?

I was told it's possible and probable that it's a wrist pin within one of the pistons. PISSED. This is a huge job (for me anyways), I bought a haynes book for my particular engine (v6, 3L) and I plan on working on it all day tomorrow.

If anyone has any information, tips, or just general help, I would appreciate it.

Funny, I thought these were overhead cam engines (mitsubishi engine). There should not be any pushrods or "lifters". Overhead cam engines use hydraulic lash adjusters (cheap to buy) and cam "followers" (also cheap to buy). This should be the same engine my wife had in her 91 Caravan. As for ignoring it- DON'T! If it is an overhead cam engine (or a pushrod engine for that matter) SERIOUS damage will result from not fixing it. My neighbor has a 92 Stealth with this same engine. It started making ticking noises. He chose to drop $1200 on new rims and tires instead of getting it fixed. It broke, now he's looking at over $2000 in parts alone, plus labor...

Hydraulic lash adjusters is too long to say everytime so everyone just says lifters anyway. The 3.0 is a OHC engine meaning no pushrods. It is NOT the same engine thats in any Stealth.
Wrist pin slap is fairly common, and totally fine as long as it's no excessive and you don't drive it like you stole it everyday revving it to 6500 all the time.
