Hi All! I just came across this forum and looks like some great info here.
Here's my trouble. When I got in my 94 GMC Safari this morning it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear while in drive or o/d. It will shift into 2nd manually and run fine in 1st or 2nd.
Also the Speedo would not work.
And lastly the ABS light is lit up.
I'v driven the van for years and it's always been faithful. It just so happened that this particular morning that my wifes 97 Chev Venture van wouldn't start so I made the snide comment that I was glad at least one of us had a good running van........is this bad Karma or just the ultimate irony?
Any thoughts?

your vehicle speed sensor on rear of transmission is either bad or unplugged- or wires cut- when it is unplugged the vehicle does not shift out of second- and of course the speedo doesn't work-- and ABS needs vehicle speed input to work right..look for the plug on driver's side rear near output where driveshaft connects........
