92 Riviera Blower Motor Problems

The blower motor in my riviera was running with the car off and the keys out. The only way to step the motor from running was to disconnect it from the battery. I think I need to replace a card in the module, but I don't know which one to replace. Any ideas?

your blower control module is bad. the dealership should have one for ~$100. it is on the passenger side, under the dash, by the blower motor itself on the 95-99 riv's and probably the same for the 92's. good luck! they are not hard to change out, it is just a few screws and panels to remove, the hardest part will be getting one if the dealer doesnt carry it anymore.

I also am having blower motor problems. But I can get no air blowing. We took the fan out and tested it, and it works. Could the blower control module make the motor blower not work? Or could it be something else. The compressor is kicking on. Any help would be appreciated.

the module can also make the fan not work all together, but you should check fuses too. (under the back seat, engine compartment and fuse panel)

Thank you for your reply. I failed to mention that my car is a 97 Riviera. We did check the fuse panel and they were good, but did not check under the back seat and engine compartment. Will check that. Is there any way to check to see if the module is bad? Thank you

Is there any way to check to see if the module is bad? Yes, your module has already been tested and determined to be bad! If it bypasses power to the blower motor with ignition off, it is bad! BTW, if the blower is running all the time, you do not have a fuse problem.

Yes, your module has already been tested and determined to be bad! If it bypasses power to the blower motor with ignition off, it is bad! BTW, if the blower is running all the time, you do not have a fuse problem.

-that is what i was responding to No problem! OK, we have two different blower control modules in this thread with different failures. This is one of the reasons we ask members to keep their post in a thread on the same subject, or problem as the original poster to eliminate confusion! It is simple to start a new thread with another question.:iceslolan
Now, we have one that failed with full power applied to the blower motor with ignition off and the other one failed and does not have power passing through the module. Either way, the module has failed. The one that is not getting power to the blower motor is simple to test. If you have power input to the module and none going to the blower motor, then the module that has failed. As mentioned earlier, they can fail either way, or can even have an erratic off/on failure.:uhoh:
