hi all,
pls advise,
if i were to use gold as base colour,
1. do i still need to prime the body?
2. white or grey primer works better?
3. how many coats of gold is necessary or advisable?
4. do i sand down or polish the gold base first before applying the top coat of the desired colour for the body?
thanks all!

1.Yes
2.Either would work.Personally I would use light grey.
3.Enough to get an even finish, usually 2-3 coats.
4.No,not usually you never sand out metallic colours or you will destoy the metallic particles and the finish will look uneven.
5.Not much point using gold as a basecoat unless you are using a tinted clear or candy topcoat as you won't see the metallic effect through a solid topcoat. It will cover it over.
