I have a 99 Pontiac Gran Am that had the starter removed. I have purchased a replacement but have three wires that appear to go to the starter. Does anyone know if this is correct and where they should be attached?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

what motor?
three wires is pretty typical. Usually 2 will go to the large post on the starter. Its obvious which go there, because they will have a large eye on the terminal. One wire is a large diameter cable. That cable goes directly to the positive post on the battery. The other wire will be a fuseable link, much smaller than the cable.
The third wire is the solenoid wire, and will have a small eye or spade terminal.

It has the 4 cyl. I think it is 2.4.....
Thank you for your information about the 3 wires. This makes sense but wasn't quite sure about the two going on the same post. I didn't want to short anything out!!! =8-)
