I have an 88 CRX Si and I need to know how to take off the sunroof and the motor that goes with it, without disassembling the whole thing.

Good luck. It's a pain in the ass and is very heavy. I remember when 2CRX was dismanteling one from his car and it fell on his knee and busted it up pretty bad.
I removed all of mine because the tracks rusted a little but there was a hole in the panel and when the car moved the metal chips rattled around inside of it. I should've done what that one dude (forget name but has 2 chicks making out in avatar) got a carbon fiber insert panel. But I just removed the whole mess and fabbed up a solid roof insert.

seems like it would be a little easier than all that ...... it should just slide out with 4-6 bolts, I think I am missing something

some people find it tricky. I think its real easy though. Just take the inside panel of of the sunroof. There are four star head screws holding it onto the sunroof. Then there are four bolts that hold the roof onto the sliders. two in the front and two in the rear of the sunroof. Once you take that inside panel off you will see the bolts that hold everything in there and it will make more sense. Dont be afraid to open the roof slightly so you can get at the cover screws easier
PS just as an afterthought, I'm pretty sure once you get the two front bolts off that hold the rails in, you can just slide the roof backwards by and and it slides right out. As for the motor it is a little tight up there. You have to take the entire headliner out to get at that

Haha... the panel is easy. I was talking about the motor and framing...

when I opened it up the roof, I took off the fron two bolts that hold it to the runner. It pivots and all but will not slide off. I just can't see into it. I will try and take the screws off though and see where it goes.

it will slide right off if you slide it back, there is a rubber stopper on either side at the end of the rails. You just pull them off and it should come right out...you could even jog the motor a bit in reverse if the roof won't slide for you

the screws on the inside got me where I needed to be. I needed to take off the liner board so I could put dynamat in. The motor is another matter ........
