Reand End Roaring

Hello everyone.
I have went to numerous dealers to see about fixing this LOUD roar I get. It only happens when I take off and it slowly gets softer as i am stopping(its not that soft)
I was told it could be several things, and seeing I am not great at parts I felt they were trying to make me get things done I did not need due to my lack of knowledge.
So, I ask if anyone here knows what it could be. We can hear the roar inside the car:banghead: , I had the differential fluid changed and it did not help any. Thats already cost me 60 bucks.
Any ideas?

what year is your truck? motor? Miles?
Do you have limited slip?
does if feel like the e-brake is hanging up?

It is a 1996 Honda Passport Lx V-6 has over 175K
Have no idea on the limited slip thing.
Brakes seem fine had both front and rear replaced within past year also new back calibers.
But, it does sort of shake a tad when stopping not like new brakes should be.

SOUNDS LIKE A CARRIER BEARING GOING OUT. DOES THE MOISE MAKE A CHANGE WHEN YOU ACCORATE OR DECELORATE? ALSO CAN YOU TELL IF THE AUTOMOBILE IS KINDA FISH TAILING WHEN YOU DO THIS?

It will not be as loud if I let off the accelerator, and the noise increases as I go faster, yes.

I know there are a couple of grease zerks on the drive shaft... there was a recent post on this (within the last week...).

Thanks, I will try and check into this. I had went to get an oil change not long ago asked about them greasing the rear end and they said there was not something there that would need it, but I will defintely look into this and come back and post what I find out Thanks for your help.:rolleyes:

Gotta tell ya; sounds an awful lot like the tires themselves.
Seriously - my tires are howling big time in this heat; decreases when coming down to a slower speed; increases when giving it the gas.
Other things to look into - definitely check your driveshaft, should be a zerk right around the yoke, I highly recommend putting some grease in there, driving it around the block, and then put some more in there until it just starts to ooze out. I highly recommend finding a way to do this yourself, as I can assure you no one else is going to do this unless you literally stand there and watch them. It's not difficult in the slightest, only takes 2-3 minutes tops, it's just most places could care less.
Also, about mid-point in your shaft is a carrier bearing, literally looks like a round black doughnut; thoroughly look over this bearing to see if it's worn out, dry rotted, etc and try to wiggle your shaft around a bit; I've heard some say if it moves more then an inch, your carrier bearing is shot.
Another thought, pop your hood, on the drivers side firewall should be a list of codes, look for I think it's the G80 code - this will tell you if you have the LSD (limited slip differential). If you have this code, be SURE to find out what gear oil the shop used, if that gear oil does not have an LSD additive, then this could definitely be your issue. In which case, you're gonna want to either add a LSD additive or swap your gear oil to one that contains LSD additive immediately!
