My 2000 Dogde Caravan has gas proplems:lol: . It runs well, but burns alot of gasand I don't know if it a sensor or a relayor if it has something to do with my fuel filter. It just started working like this for about the last week. I usually put in $20 and it lasts me about 4 days going back and forth to work but now I'm putting $10 a day.

Welcome aboard. Are you seeing any other symptoms like, rough idle, hesitation, a service engine light? Which engine and tranny? What was the most recent maintenance performed?

Shooting from the hip I would look at the O2 sensors, especially the upstream sensor.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
No my engine light isn't on and there are no other symptoms. I had my spark plugs changed about 6 months ago. I had a moto vac done at the same time .

Ok. I would head for the nearest Autozone and have them check for any error codes that may be stored in the computer. It's free. That may give us a clue of where to start.

I mentioned O2 sensors because they are the key sensor in determining the air/fuel mixture your engine uses. If it's running too rich, your gas will go quickly. Other possibilities are something effecting timing, dirty or leaking fuel injectors, weak spark, etc.

Put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail and check the fuel pressure. A fuel pressure regulator gone bad will increase fuel consumption real quick. Also, fuel pressure is not regulated or monitored by the computer (no check engine light or code for this one). The excess gas spilled through the injectors will be burned up by the catalytic convertor so you won't smell a rich mixture in the tailpipe or see soot come out the tailpipe, like you would on an older, pre-cat car.

Check it out and let us know what you find.
