Brakes?

about 3 or 4 months ago, and because of the brake pedal wobbling, i replaced the front rotors and pads with OEM replacements from the parts store. here i am, 4 months later, and the brakes are shit. i have to push them almost to the floor and then they hardly work. forget about hard braking too, i tried to brake from about 60 miles an hour to a quick stop and it almost didnt happen at all if i wouldn't of downshifted. then the brakes start stinking.

I've bled the brakes & checked the brake fluid about 10 times. My brother suggested that the front pads might be glazed and i remove them and the rotors and lightly sand them to create more friction. what do you guys think? if the back shoes were bad, would that cause the whole car not to stop? if so, why, because i've had a car that had the back brakes completely disconnected and it still stopped fine just a little unstable on gravel.

Yeah, have the rotors checked and check the pads for glazing. Also make sure you get all the air out of the lines. Another thought maybe that the master cylinder is crapping out on you. That will also cause the brake pedal to be very mushy. The car should stop since the brake bias is somewhere near 60-40 to 70-30.

Sounds like your booster is dead.

Happened to me one time while going down a hill with 3 other people in the car, I had to ebrake it, when I got to the gas station they smelled horrible. But I havent had any problems since then.

Where did you get the pads and rotors? If you didn't get them from a real dealer then it is cheap parts. Autozone and discount can't compete with Napa and the Honda dealerships for part quality, just in price.

Sounds like the booster or master cylinder to me...

If you have a lot of play in the pedal than adjust the rear drums out a click or two. When you tighten up the drums the pedal stroke gets shorter and stiffer. You can adjust the play in the pedal by adjusting the drums either way you want to go. Sounds to me like the master cyclinderis gone. Here is a test...when your sitting at a light does the pedal keep going down slowly or does it sit in one place ? If it continues to go down than you need a new master cyclinder which i am betting that you do. Oh and for a new master cyclinder get a decent rebuild..try to stay away from autozone and those kind of palces for this...check like majestic honda.

the pedal doesn't travel on its own, it just goes to the floor like i need new pads but the pads and rotors are new. Also, if the booster was bad, the pedal would be hard to push but it is not. i am thinking that the brakes might be sticking in the front so its making them heat up then they will not work.
