Horrible back/mis-firing...

Alright - I'm slowly getting the VR4 (93) back on the road - just shelled out $800 for tires. It's taking so long because I'm learning houses are just stupid expensive. Anyway - I haven't really driven it but free revving and on my street as soon as you go WOT it cuts out and won't rev further...just studders. I can slowly rev it up but as soon as I go WOT again, same thing. The exhaust sounds brutal with the engine cutting out. It's sad that my Mazda6 would walk it right now. :disappoin
Here's the thing - it never did that until I had the engine "professionally" shampooed - and by shampooed I mean SOAKED. Then it started a bit and I replaced the wires. It helped somewhat but now it's pretty much undrivable. So...could it be something as simple as plugs (I have bosch platinum ready to replace), or do we think there's a hole somewhere? I HOPE it's a simple fix because my 6 is leased and I've put over half the allowable miles on it one year in (out of four) - so I need this car to work! I know some of you have experienced this - what was wrong wtih yours? Thanks in advance!!

umm..i think if you read the car manual they dont recommend bosch plugs in the 3s cars..they recommend the NGK..thats all i run and works great! try the plugs..cheap fix..hope that will work..otherwise there could be many possibilities to what it is!! good luck

yes jeff is right.. throw those POS plugs away and get factory plugs (or NGK)... I would get the cheep like 1.50 plug's that are just copper.. as they work great for our cars!

Well that was thirty bucks wasted. Oh well, I'll get the NGK's if they're worth it and see if that does anything. Thanks for the replies guys.

Definately go with the ngk plugs.. if its not those then you may have a loose vacume line somewhere, that was the issues on my 240sx when it was having similar symptoms.
