Ok, I'm not making this up and I'm not downing Mustangs but whats the deal??? The v6's are just 2 slow and I enjoy burning them and the V8's are just not too fast... I know there is no way in hell I'll be able to beat a Cobra or a Saleen, but why am I able to either tie with the v8's or beat them by a little.....I have a 95 Nissan MAXIMA with CAI,Stillin cat back exaust, Y-pipe,B-pipe, and High flow cat, with port and polish heads...... I beat the v6's by like 7 cars, the auto v8's by about 2 cars, and depending on the driver i either tie or beat by like a couple of feet, the manual v8's... I know theres going to be a lot of shit talking after this thread, but whats the specs on these "muscle" cars..... By the way, I'm speaking of the 94+ MUSTANGS.......:badass:

Becasue Nissan made the US version of the Maxima in a smaller lighter weight body than the version sold in the rest of the world, but packed it with the same 3.0L V6, and then tuned it. And the new ones now have a 3.5L tuned version of the V6.
Combined with a close ration low geared g/box, and the excellent drive line effiancy of a FWD and you have actualy have a VERY fast 4 door car.

Just because you happen to be faster than an Auto V8 Mustang dosn't mean the Mustang is in anyway slow. Try racing one in a Japanese or European version of the Maxima and you will get well and truely shat on.

the domestic manufacturers like the mustang have traditionally built engines with lots of torque, the German and Japanese manufacturers have been building engines with less torque, but the ability to rev much higher. This means that import cars don't accelerate as quickly right off the line as their domestic counterparts, yet they are able to accelerate for longer in the same gear. you see A stang's long stroke allows the engine to produce power for a longer period of time, and subsequently more torque. There is a drawback to a long stroke. Because the piston must travel a longer distance, there is a physical limit to how many RPM the engine can achieve, an engine with a large bore and short stroke will produce less overall torque, but has the ability to reach much higher revolutions per minute, weight is also a big factor.

Very good point!

94+ Mustangs are pretty heavy, alot more the pre-94 Mustangs. the 5.0 used in 94-95 wasen't the best motor in the world either. In 96 the 4.6 went into the Mustang, and that motor still had a lot of bugs in it to be worked out. Try racing newer 2000+ Mustang and see how you do. The 4.6 has great potential, and has gotten a lot better compaired its early years.

I think the newer mustangs are advanceing in the right direction, but I also think that they are no where near japanese design. The closest car to jap. design that ford has produced is the focus. even the focus's VVT sys. and 170 hp @ 7000 rpm short stroke, lacks in comparison to a maxima SER. If they utilized an 8 cylinder motor in this way there would be no competition. (by the way nice stang) i think they need to redo the 500m like this.:D

I'm not even gonna lie, the 2000+ mustangs are indeed faster, I raced a 2000+ convertable with 2 females in it once and we were neck in neck for a while, but cars were coming up so I had to slow down to avoid a wreck... But it "seemed" as if they were going to pull. I guess in the higher gears that v8 kicks in.

The v6 mustangs are economy cars, just like the civic, but with more hp and potential. Seing that you drive a 4 door family car, likeyour in a place to be able to talk about performance. All these "V8s" that you beat, where either not racing ( most likely) or where fake GTs, which is a very common occurence among v6 drivers. Kinda like putting type r stickers on your car. A stock v8 5-speed would walk you like a dog. Even with your big ole exhasut and cold air. OOOo thats some power there:rolleyes:

are you angry for some reason???? Did japanese ppl kill your dog or something? Max's are quick, quick as a v8 stang I don't know but hey maybe he's a better driver? (note: SER max's are faster) (A stock v8 5-speed would walk you like a dog. Even with your big ole exhasut and cold air. OOOo thats some power there)- correct me if i'm wrong but you just quoted performance parts on your stang, didint you? (cold air) (big ole exaust) who says he has type R stickers (type R is a specific sports model honda) I thought he drove a maxima? Simmer down killer we are all friends here. :D He didint say he could beat an SVT, then we may have to intervene. lol

Hey 94SVT, loosen up your thongs man, You drive a Svt stang so I wouldn't expect for you to know much about the potential of other cars, all you probably know is "I drive a fast car".. Do your homework Willis, before talkin Ish... I'm not saying my car is the fastest in the forum, and I never said all my power comes fron CAI, and exaust, Learn to read before talkin SH&%... I know the difference between some idiot making there v6 look like a v8, plus the exaust sounds different. Anyway you can't get mad at ignorance. Type R stickers, on a nissan????? WHAT YOU TALKIN ABOUT WILLIS:flipa: :finger: :flipa: :finger: :finger4: :monkeypis :spit:

You my friend are a troll. Coming into the mustang forum and posting a thread about how your 4 door family car can beat mustangs is asking for trouble. Go post your "wins" in street racing forum. If there ever really where any. Do you have any track times? If you beat mustangs all the time, you ought to take it to the track and see why. So, gow up or shut up. Back your claims with some facts. And quit trying to go around and stir stuff up. Why else would you post that in here? Get a life moron

MaximusGTR,

What is that all about? You have not mentioned one thing that shows you have done any homework. Its really not nice coming on to board and saying your cars are slow, why. Do they suck?

You have a 95 Maxima, nice car.

SVT,
I understand where you are coming from, but don't let this get personal. I have in the past, and it really does get no where.

Not every car coming from the factory can be a 1/4 mile screamer, or a road racing king. Hell, the 94 and 95s are not that great from the facory, but with small bolt on they do show some potential. They do handle fairly good. I bet in a road race the Stang would get you:) j/k

Try to be nice guys.

This thread was doomed from the start.

It could have been handled rationaly, but wasnt, and hence it is closed.

In the furture if someone wants to make a post cliaming the car they own is faster than the car you own, then don't be offended by it.
For all you know they might be right, but if they are wrong then name calling won't achieve anything.
