im looking at getting tires for my bike again, need a front and rear now.... was curious what would give me the best commuting life.
i use my bike mainly for commuting, but also wouldn't mind being able to take it in the mountains from time to time,
basically i have a couple questions... what does everyone run for tires, what do u usually get for mileage
i have a Michelin Pilot Power on now and got surprisingly almost 5000miles out of it, but was curious about 2 other tires, the Metzler M3 and the battlax BT-020 ..... i can get a front rear set of the battlax for 190, the front rear set of m3's for 240, and the pilot powers for 210..
i was kinda leaning towards the battlax's because 1 never tried them, but i had a friend that had a lot of miles on a bt-014, i had a M1 before, and lasted bout 2000 miles... not doing that again, so im hesitant on going with the Metzler again.
figured i would come and get a group opinion.
thanks in advance for feedback,
Clinton

i run the Michelin powers. absolutely awesome in the wet. as a sports tyre they perform well as an all rounder. as a commuter they may suffer from the flat centre. they can take awhile to get enough heat in them to perform too
the battleaxes will be a better commuter since they tend to be a bit harder but are shit in the wet.
i get about 5000k's out of a rear tyre and about 9000 to a front depending on track days.
pirelli diablo corsa's were my best tyre but lasted only 3000 k's and were quite a bit more $ than others. dunlop d208's were a decent dry tyre but turned to crap in the wet

i agree with the pilot powers wet traction, absolutely fantastic. i was seeing how well they tracked in the wet, i goosed the throttle and pulled the wheel up, as if it were dry.... i can vogue for the flat center
and as the battlax, how shit in the rain, cause this will be my only mode of transportation. shit ride slow and don't lean, or shit as in stop and wait for it to dry up some.
I was going to ask about the diablo's, they are 230 for a set... but they are the Diablo Strada's

shit as in...... you know when its pissing down and your getting wet, all you want to do is get home quickly and your riding with 110% concentration on feedback and surroundings. spidey sensors working overtime. the michelins allow feedback and give a certain amount of confidence so your mind can concentrate more on surroundings. battleaxes (for me) didn't give the confidence to ride a bit faster than i should. alomost as if i could ride to the tyres maximum performance before my limit was reached whereas the michelins would surpass my limits.
BUT i love riding in the wet and pushing harder than normal. i find that i concentrate more and my mind doesn't wander like it does in the dry.
the adrenalin rush is what i do it for...:runaround:

glad to help.
i'm not fussed on shopping around too much. i use on store for everything and get my mates to go there too. the owners look after me, invite me to their track days and other trade offs
