My car comes home..

Y'all know that phrase that "The world comes full circle, and we start over again?"
Yeah... my old 1988 Honda Civic LX... 5 Spd.. maroon int/ext.. it's coming home.
I sold it to a buddy of mine for a beat up CRX and to pay off a loan I had from him... only after I got it stripped down did I realise that I just didn't wanna do that much work on a car I'd never drive.. so I decided to keep usable parts off it, and scrap the body, unless I could find someone to buy it. Never found anyone to buy it, so I scrapped the body out, and stripped everything off it.
Since then, I've been granted the opportunity to buy the car back from him, all parts he has, and all work invested in it. It still has minor problems, but he's no Honda guy.. in fact, he has no idea what is going on under the hood of my car...
I'm giving him $300 for it, with some other nice parts included, like an Si head, Si intake, etc...
Those parts that come extra, including the motor that's currently in it, will most likely be for sale, I have other things I would like to do to it.
For starters, I'm getting a JDM ZC DOHC engine shipped in in the next couple months. Already have the turbo setup that's going on it. It's being attatched to a HF tranny... from the CRX.. I love the long gears.. and being able to hit 90+ in third just gets it for me.
I pretty much plan on building the car for a street cruiser.. maybe some light show going, but nothing extreme.. I don't street race anymore.. it's the reason that I don't have a license. Wouldn't mind bracket racing it tho, so I'll be putting some basic additions on it, and tuning, of course.
More to come when the title is in my hands...

IMHO:
HF tranny + DOHC ZC don't mix. Unless your looking for gas mileage, but then why get a ZC motor in the first place? The long gears just won't cut it for a higher powered d-series. Si tranny would be ideal.

I knew someone would notice that.... the problem is, if I get a Si tranny.. I have mad accel... but I don't need acceleration, really... it'll just get me in trouble again... I start to think I can outrun cops.. then I give myself reasons to.. then I get caught... the next time, I don't get my license back EVER. Not willing to take the chance... and I know, the answer next is "Don't do that then" but it's just not even close to as easy as it sounds... So I'll stick with my low acceleration high (potential) top speed vehicle... LOL
I respect your opinion on this forum though, I want you to know that... you've helped me out before, or at least tried, I'm sure.. but this is a personal choice, and it's staying the way I originally planned it.

Eh, due to my current monetary situation, and the fact that someone else is currently looking at the car... I may have to let well enough alone, and buy something else... It's not that I don't want the car... it's just that I can't afford it.
I guess I posted this pre-emptively, just hoping that everything would work out for the best... I have the money to buy it, but I can't risk it with the kind of other work that I'd have to be putting into it, plus the fact that I have no reliable means of income atm... I guess it's up to fate now, to see if I ever get my car back...

that doesn't make sense...getting an HF traansmmission that was intended for saving gas, but you don't want an Si transmission b/c you don't need acceleration..sound like the chebacca defence to me...just doesn't make sense...so if you don't want "acceleration" then what's the point of the engine swap or turbo? like i said..it doesn't make sense...don't you know that the acceleration is dependant upon how hard you press the accelerator, not which tranny...if you had said that you like the longer gears of the HF then that would have made more sense :shakehead

90+ in thrid will be easily obtainable, my stock hf tranny with my 5000rpm redline does around 75 at the top of second and 105 in third, never had enough power to find top of fourth tho but that'll soon be fixed lol so assuming your redline is gonna be well better than 5000 rpm you may be capable of damn near 90 at the top of second from what I've heard.

my redline will be somewhere around 8k if I do everything I wanna do... but I'm going to build the engine, and wait for a better shell for it.. I'm not buying my car back.
in the CRX HF, the trans would allow around 95 in third gear when the engine just wouldn't rev anymore... not b/c of rev limiter either.. it literally would stop revving.. that was around 6000 rpm on the HF engine... nothing about your engine makes a difference in speed @ a given RPM, it's all in the gears... so your transmission is obviously different than mine.
